Exit Strata Print! Launch in Brooklyn NY
In case you’re just tuning in, Exit Strata: Print! No. #1, our inaugural print issue, was published in May with a rousing launch party at This Must Be The Place Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYC, center of the universe.
We are eternally grateful to Anna Dunn for allowing us to host the party at her gallery and to the righteous crowd of lit geeks, art freaks and other loveables who attended the launch. The print issue was a years-worth of countless hours spent reading submissions and designing/editing/curating the magazine by our small staff.
The day started off with a merrymaker ExSt parade of mandolin, banjo, harmonica, trumpet, percussion, and spoken word along Bedford Avenue to the gallery. A CoCo salon of surrealist writing/art games was held during the day with spontaneous prose, Q & As, and round-robin readings.
Our night of Readings/Performances featured poets Peter Milne Greiner, Bill Considine, and Lancelot Runge, along with editors Lynne DeSilva-Johnson, Benjamin Wiessner, and Jonathan Rose. Brooklyn singer-song writer Billy Libby treated the audience to his addictive indie folk with a rare acoustic session, and horror writer Stephen Verman and D.A. Wright performed another installment of improv Extreme Storytelling.
Thank you to all the illuminated people who came out to celebrate with us. Your jubilant presence and awesome energy made the launch a huge success and one hell of a party (special thanks to Tender Trap for hosting the AfterParty!) The magazine is now for online through Barnes & Noble and for sale at local bookstores such as St. Marks and Left Bank in NYC, as well as Green Hand, Yes Books, and Longfellow Bookstore in Portland, Maine (see full list here!).
Stay tuned for news on our Exit Strata reading series starting in August. And in the meantime, submissions are open for Exit Strata: Print! No. #2.
So… submit, submit, submit!
