The Operating System

FIELD NOTES: Jacob Perkins, From the Cannery : Pt 4 :: Lost and Found

The crew just left after a week of touring through Valdez and the kenai peninsula.
Joyous time, a little relieved to rest, but of course we’re about to jump into a month straight of intense fishing with absolutely no breaks or guarantees of free time.
Which is great because I’m here to make money and that’s what we’ll be doing.

But I found something:

FUCK OFF, ’08:
IDIOTS & ASSHOLES
THAT’S WHAT THEY IS…
OLD STUFFED SHIRTS
ALL FULL OF PISS…
TALK IS MIGHTY CHEAP
JUST LIKE CHEEZ WHIZ
PROOFS IN THE PUDDING…
STUFF YOUR OREO
COOKIE WITH THAT…
IF YOU DON’T LIKE MY PROSE…
SUCK A BIG HOSE
PERK ’08
.
I’m digging around and hoping to uncover more finds such as this one. My dad, in his months and months on the boat through the winter, seems to be using his time to do some poetry. I imagine it’s quite a release because it’s all angry and bitter and quite hilarious. Not that it’s poetic genius in structural terms but I read it and it sounds pure. And I like that.
