Tahar Bekri (tr. Remy Rammah)
Tahar Bekri is considered as one of the most prominent contemporary maghrebian voices. Born in Gabès (Tunisia), Bekri lived in Paris since 1976, as a political exile from 1976 to 1989. He has published over twenty books of poetry, essays and art criticism. His work has been translated into several languages. In October 2018, Bekri received the Benjamin Fondant award, an international award created in memory and honor of
the Romanian Jewish writer Benjamin Fondane and offered annually to one selected writer who writes in French but is not of French origins. He writes in both French and Arabic and currently is teaching at Paris Nanterre University.

Remy Rammah (poet, translator) holds an MFA degree in literary translation from the University of Iowa and translates primarily from French and Arabic. She served as both a Fulbright foreign language teaching assistant and a visiting professor at the University of Iowa. Some of her translations and poems have appeared in Prism, Crevice and Two Lines Press.
